The blossom season looked beautiful and the new season almonds are already developing nicely.  At the recent ABA conference there was a lot of talk about orchard hygiene being the most important aspect of keeping pests out of the orchard and improving the final quality of the kernels.  Laragon is also committed to improved kernel quality. Insect control has been increased on site.  In addition, a new annex is currently being constructed over the truck loading bay to ensure all finished almonds are loaded undercover.  In the processing line a new sorting deck is being installed to remove more foreign material as early in the process as possible.  All these activities combined should add up to better quality almonds in the future.
